IKEA Museum and Svensk Form highlight next generation Swedish design stars

Today, the participants in Young Swedish Design 2022 are officially announced. The design exhibition opens at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in Stockholm on 7 February, and will then tour to Skellefteå, Helsingborg, Gothenburg and Malmö later in the year. IKEA Museum in Älmhult has co-produced and curated the dazzling exhibition, which shows the latest from the young design scene in Sweden and encompasses furniture, fashion, arts and crafts, architecture, industrial design and graphic design.

“It is tremendously exciting and rewarding to see the ideas and visions of these young designers. We are proud to produce Young Swedish Design and help to spread these ideas, while making good design available to more people,” says Anna Sandberg Falk, Curator at IKEA Museum.

Young Swedish Design is an annual award assessed by a panel of judges, and a touring exhibition showing young, innovative Swedish design. Since the beginning in 1998, Young Swedish Design has become the most important forum for designers at the start of their careers.

“Young Swedish Design 2022 highlights the bold, creative generation of designers who are driving development for a sustainable future through good design,” says Mats Widbom, Managing Director of Svensk Form – the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design.

Young Swedish Design 2022 opens at Kulturhuset Stadsteatern on 7 February. This year there is also the opportunity to enjoy a digital vernissage of the exhibition on opening day at 12:00 CET, and to hear some of the young designers talk about their works.
